From Michelin starred kitchens in Scotland and superyachts cruising the Mediterranean to creating memorable dining experiences here on the South Coast, Sean McCarthy’s career is a great example of where a passion for hospitality can lead.

Originally from Sydney, Sean left school in Year 10 to begin his chef apprenticeship before moving to Melbourne at just 19. He spent the next decade honing his craft before heading overseas, working in Michelin starred restaurants in Edinburgh and later aboard superyachts throughout the South of France, Italy and the Mediterranean.

Those years reinforced something Sean strongly believes - hospitality skills can take you anywhere in the world.

During COVID, Sean found his way to the Shoalhaven, working at Small Town Food & Wine before co-founding Small Town Provisions with his wife, Liz. Growing demand for their catering eventually led the pair to establish Season & Savour four years ago.

Today, Season & Savour caters weddings, private events and intimate dining experiences throughout Berry, Kangaroo Valley, Jervis Bay, Ulladulla and surrounds - bringing Sean’s years of experience from kitchens around the world to tables here on the South Coast.

After years spent cooking in kitchens and incredible destinations around the world, these days home is Narrawallee, where Sean and Liz are raising their young son Percy, and making the most of life by the coast.

It’s this combination of international experience, a lifelong passion for hospitality and the decision to bring it all back to build a business and raise his family here on the South Coast that makes Sean McCarthy one of our Homegrown Heroes.
