Born in the UK, Daniel arrived in Australia in 1999. It was this move which ignited Daniel’s love of food and he began to experiment and cook different foods to try and replicate what he was eating at friend’s homes and in restaurants. 

It was in late 2017 that Daniel began to experiment with sourdough. His local sourdough baker was moving back to Canada and kindly donated some of his starter. This became Daniel’s hobby and a weekend bake was the perfect destress from the working week.

In 2023, Daniel moved to Sussex Inlet and began to enjoy the restaurants in the Shoalhaven region becoming part of the Shoalhaven Network in the process.

In February 2024 Daniel launched Sussex Sourdough, a small boutique organic sourdough bakery. In 2026, for the first time, Daniel entered three of his bread varieties into the Sydney Royal Fine Foods Show, achieving 1 gold and 2 silver medals. 

Never content to stand still, Daniel is committed to developing and improving his baking techniques into the future and as a committee member, Daniel is keen to contribute to the continued success of the Shoalhaven Food Network which has been so supportive of his small business.
